Some state Plumbing Codes require backflow preventers to be installed in all commercial buildings. This protects the community water supply from contamination and pollution. Annual backflow testing for South Carolina commercial facilities must be completed by a certified backflow tester.
The results are then reported to the municipal water company. If your building needs a backflow preventer installed, this will require a permit issued to a Master Plumber and installation performed by a Journeyman Plumber, followed by inspection and certification.
